Jimmy Mills was born in Michigan to musical parents, Jeff and Alexandra Mills. Jeff himself was a great drummer who played with some of the greats of his time, such as Count Basie and Earl Hines.
Jeff started his own band that toured the east and west and later became the house band at the famous Mackinaw Island Resort. In the 40's, Mackinaw Island Resort was a place for the rich and famous. It was not unusual for Jeff to get requests from Ronald Reagan, George Raft or the President of The United States, who at that time, was Roosevelt.
